Better Off Ted, a TV show on ABC, was pre-empted last night for President Obama’s press conference. In response, they made a fake commercial from the perspective of the fake company in the show, Viridian Dynamics:
As Nikki Finke points out:
Interestingly, the show comes from Twentieth Century Fox TV, whose sister company FBN became the only broadcast network to turn down Obama’s news conference in order to run Lie To Me.
So maybe it’s not so much a parody after all. This brings to mind one of the greatest parodies of corporatism, GloboChem from Mr. Show:
“Take it from me, I love you!”
